Return of the otter

Well, not exactly ‘a return’ as they have always been here, but the significance is we have only managed brief glimpses and tracking over the past 4 to 5 months, so a 30 minute viewing was very welcome.

It is difficult to judge the size of an otter whilst its in the water but this one appeared smaller than those seen on previous occasions.  I missed the potentially best photo of the day by not having the camera ready.  The otter was very close but the camera was still in the bag!  It retreated to the opposite riverbank from then onwards.  Lesson learned.
